Dance Source Houston Announces Lineup for the Barnstorm Dance Fest

Barnstorm Dance Fest

HOUSTON, TX, March 27, 2015. Dance Source Houston (DSH) is delighted to announce the exciting lineup of artists and dance companies participating in the first annual Barnstorm Dance Fest taking place at The Barn – Dance Source Performing Arts Space from May 28 – June 13, 2015.   Featuring 21 different dance artists over three unique weekends of dance, the Barnstorm’s frenzy of activity will please dance enthusiasts of all kinds.

“Based on the large number of applicants, we knew we needed the festival to be as diverse as possible. With a range of genres and moods, a mix of emerging artists to established companies, both audience favorites and premieres, as well as a handful of out of town companies, I think we’ve put together a very exciting program” says Stephanie Todd Wong, Executive Director of Dance Source Houston.

Also featured in the Barnstorm Dance Fest are the three DSH artists in residence. Since October 2014, Lori Yuill, Alisa Mittin and Joel Rivera have been rehearsing, rent-free at the Barn in preparation for their performances in the Barnstorm. For Lori Yuill, having the time to fully explore a new work has been very beneficial, “The residency has not only allowed me to delve deep into movement ideas but has also held a space and time in my life to focus on making dance.  I am seeing the effects of that regularity in my work in terms of clarity of movement and the desire/commitment to delve into new territory.”
