NobleMotion Dance announces Next Step Series for emerging choreographers

HOUSTON, TEXAS – November 3, 2014 – NobleMotion Dance is excited to announce the Next Step Series, a new annual program that will feature the next wave of Houston choreographers. NobleMotion believes that the establishment of this series will foster the creation of quality choreography by talented artists for Houston audiences. NobleMotion will select, mentor, promote, and produce a shared evening of two artists each year. This year’s Next Step Series will premier at The Barn February 6 & 7 at 8 PM and features the choreography of Laura Harrell and Brittany Thetford Deveau.
Laura Harrell is currently an adjunct professor at Houston Community College, Lone Star College, and San Jacinto College. Laura has presented choreography at The Dance Gallery Festival (Texas and New York City), the Fringe Festival (Houston), and most recently, in the first ever, Art Saves Lives: A Cultural Conversation performance and educational outreach program in Nice, France. Additionally, she has set work at Sam Houston State University, the American College Dance Festival, Booker T. Washington High School, Lone Star College, San Jacinto College, and was assistant choreographer for Recked Productions site-specific project, Up For Air.
Brittany Thetford Deveau is a founding dancer and collaborator of NobleMotion Dance, where she has performed in over 20 original works. She has also performed for Recked Productions, Rednerrus Feil, and independent artist Laura Harrell. Brittany’s choreography has been presented by Sam Houston State University, San Jacinto College South and most recently at Dance Italia in Lucca, Italy. Brittany is currently an adjunct professor for Sam Houston State University, Lone Star College, and San Jacinto College South.
NMD Artistic Director Andy Noble states, “We could not be more excited about introducing these talented artists to the Houston community. I think audiences will be impressed by the quality of their work.”
