Lights, music, dance! Uptown Dance Company invites you to a night of live jazz and dance, reminiscent of a bygone era where people come together to socialize and dance. Premiering three brand new works comprise of vignettes, Spring Fusion 2015 Dance Festival is a dance concert featuring Uptown Dance Company and The Jose-Miguel Yamal Jazz Quartet, with pre-show by Uptown Dance Company II and Senior Company.

Spring Fusion 2015 Dance Festival is a journey filled with the passion of tango and Latin jazz, the suavity and elegance of 50s jazz, and the funk and soul of Motown. Inspired by her travels to South America, Artistic Director Beth Gulledge-Brown premieres A Latin Suite, where the audience is invited join the dancers onto a field trip of passion, love and festive celebrations.

She also restages Reminisce, a collection of vignettes inspired by the cool jazz of the 1950s. Evoking the charm, elegance and grace of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, and accompanied by the music of Frank Sinatra and Bobby Darin, Reminisce is a tribute to Gulledge-Brown’s grandparents who introduced her to the world of jazz at a young age.

The evening is finished with The Last Suite, set to the blues and funk of Motown music. At the end of the performance, the audience is invited to dance the night away with live music provided by The Jose-Miguel Yamal Jazz Quartet.
