CORE DANCE CELEBRATES NATIONAL WATER DANCE IN HOUSTON
Simultaneous Performances set for April 14, 3:00 p.m. CST

March 20, 2018 (Houston, Texas) – Core Dance, the award-winning contemporary dance organization based in Houston and Atlanta, will celebrate National Water Dance, on Saturday, April 14, at 3:00 p.m. CST. Core Dance has commissioned Houston artists Lydia Hance and Jhon Stronks to create site-specific works connected to water issues. Each performance is free and open to the public. Hance’s work, “3 pm at the oasis,” will use storytelling, performance, and music to answer the question “Where does our water come from?” Join her at the water feature in front of the Houston Museum of Natural Science, 5555 Hermann Park, 77030. Stronks’ will lead “Procession H2O” along the Allen Parkway walking paths at Buffalo Bayou Park. The procession will begin at Sabine Street and end at Montrose Boulevard along Allen Parkway. Gestures will launch small dances that celebrate the efforts to remove trash, debris, and other pollutants from Houston’s bayous. Observers are welcome to dance and walk with Stronks in the procession. Across the nation performances will be simultaneously live-streamed to reach and activate a broad audience to advocate on behalf of our shared natural environment.
