Three contemporary dance theater companies from Tel Aviv join CORE Performance Company at Miller Outdoor Theatre

August 1, 2016 (Houston, Texas) – For the first time, Houston audiences can experience the powerful contemporary dance and physical theater of three renowned Israeli dance companies alongside CORE Performance Company in “CORE Presents Dance from Israel.” Pack your cooler and join CORE for this free performance on Saturday, October 1, 8:00 p.m. at Miller Outdoor Theatre located in Hermann Park, 6000 Hermann Drive, Houston, 77030.

CORE, under the artistic director of co-founder Sue Schroeder, has collaborated with global dance innovators throughout its 36-year history, and continues that practice with these innovative Israeli companies. The dance artists of CORE spent an intensive two weeks in Tel Aviv this year dancing and sharing ideas with Yossi Berg & Oded Graf; Anat Grigorio; and Niv Sheinfeld & Oren Laor, among others. The result is this evening of boundary breaking dance theater.

“More than ever, conversations across cultures and ethnicity are critical,” said Sue Schroeder, CORE Artistic Director. “It is my belief that there is no better way to create  dialogue and understanding than through art and international exchange. This performance at Miller offers an incredible understanding to build understanding through these innovate contemporary dance and theater artists.”

The program for the evening length performance includes: “Heroes part 2” by Yossi Berg & Oded Graf; an excerpt from “Mr. Nice Guy” by Anat Grigorio; “Big Mouth” by Niv Sheinfeld & Oren Laor; and CORE Performance Company in “American Playground.”

The performance of “CORE Presents Dance from Israel” is sponsored in part by the City of Houston through the Miller Theatre Advisory Board. Support for this project comes from the Consulate General of Israel to the Southeast, the Consulate General of Israel to the Southwest, and Israel’s Office of Cultural Affairs in North America.
