Dance Source Houston Launches New Branding, Website and Online Magazine

Dance Source Houston (DSH) is delighted to launch a major rebranding initiative today, marking the beginning of a new phase for DSH. The decision to redevelop the DSH brand was brought about by the organization’s taking over management of Barnevelder Movement/Arts Space earlier this year.

Changes include a freshened graphic identity, new website, online magazine called The Dance DiSH, and an events curation/listing partnership with Houston Arts Alliance. All of these changes are designed to enhance the services and value that DSH provides to its dance artist members, Houston’s dance-loving audiences, and patrons of The Barn – Dance Source Performing Arts Space (formerly Barnevelder).

Key components of the project:

  • Graphic identity characterized by common colors/elements throughout all DSH marketing materials
  • Messaging relevant to DSH’s three constituent groups: Dance Artists and Organizations, Dance Audiences, and The Barn patrons
  • A new visually rich, mobile responsive DSH website that highlights member organizations, upcoming dance performances (via DSH’s signature offering, The Dance Card), happenings at The Barn, and more
  • A partnership with Houston Arts Alliance through which DSH will curate and update all Dance and The Barn events on Artshound and publish them via embedded feeds on the DSH website as well as in print via The Dance Card
  • The Dance DiSH, an online magazine that features news and articles by dance writers, artists and experts. The Dance DiSH updates/replaces DSH’s “Dance Writings” and makes several years of dance content searchable and browse-able in a visually rich and interactive online format that invites readers to browse, comment and even propose articles.

“We are excited to launch these new services for our members and their audiences, as we know it will make it easier for everyone to appreciate and enjoy all that Houston’s dance community has to offer,” said Stephanie Todd Wong, Dance Source Houston’s Executive Director.

The project was supported by a grant from Houston Endowment, involved participation from Houston Arts Alliance, and was developed in partnership with arts marketing consultant, Terri Golas.
