The Pilot Artist Board is excited to present Duality, an evening-length dance concert by Laura Harrell and Holding Space Dance Collective. Duality is the Pilot on Navigation’s final evening of programming for 2017, and promises an exciting mix of contemporary dance and fire performance.

Dates: December 9 and 10
Time: 8:00 p.m.
Location: The Pilot on Navigation, 5102 Navigation Boulevard
Tickets: $15 general admission/$12 students and seniors (ID required at-the-door)
For tickets and more information, please visit www.freneticore.net

The first half of the program is Laura Harrell’s Into… twos and toos… This series of duets was choreographed by Harrell in collaboration with dancers Jesus Acosta, Brittany Thetford Deveau, Danielle Garza, Susan Blair, and Seth McPhail. The works explore themes of support versus enabling, expectations in relationships, greed and establishing dominance, and a look at perception as reality. Text written by Susan Blair.

dualitymaggie1The audience will then move from the Pilot on Navigation’s black box theater to its outdoor pavilion to experience “Into the Fire,” an excerpt from Holding Space Dance Collective’s upcoming full-length production Lightbearer. Using a variety of fire props, “Into the Fire” follows two intrepid heroines as they journey into the fiery realm of the Shadow Queen in search of the Light of the World. Directed by Maggie Lasher, Lightbearer will be presented at the Pilot on Navigation in February.

Duality refers to having two parts, often with opposite meanings. This is reflected through Harrell and Holding Space’s vastly different styles. Unlike some shared evenings, the audience will get to experience two very disparate dance works.
