Aimed Dance Summer Fest Takes on 4th Annual Dance Festival

Beaumont, Texas – Aimed Dance, along with producing partner Lamar University Department of Theatre & Dance, is thrilled to announce Summer Fest 2024 bringing performers, dance makers, and audiences together for three weeks of concerts and two weeks of classes in one summer celebration of contemporary dance July 8 – 27 on the LU campus.

Aimed Dance, a 501(c)3 performing arts organization, seeks to foster an awareness of and value for dance as a fine art through live performances, educational programming, and professional networking. “Summer Fest allows us the opportunity to maximize our mission-based programming in a Texas size dance festival for all,” explains artistic director, Amy Elizabeth.

Classes, Concerts, and Community events allow Aimed Dance to bring contemporary dance to the forefront of the arts and culture scene here in Southeast Texas. Audiences are invited to join us for three weekends of curated dance concerts by artists from across TX and beyond. Prior to each performance, a facilitated talk with take place with the presenting choreographers to get a glimpse of the creative process, the artists, and the work being presented. Concerts will be held July 12 – 13, July 19 – 20, and July 26 – 27 at 7:30 pm in the LU Studio Theatre. General admission tickets are $20. The ArTalks begin at 6 pm in the University Theatre Lobby, refreshments provided.

The educational programming is offered in two formats: two weekly intensives and Saturday drop ins. The weekly intensives include the Young Dancers Workshop for ages 9 – 13 running July 8 – 13 and the Pre/Professional Intensive for dancers 14 and older running July 15 – 20. Participants wanting to join in on the summer intensives will need to register by June 30. Open Community Classes invites movers and shakers 14+ years of age to the studio on Saturday July 13, 20, and 27 from 9am – 1pm. Classes will be taught by visiting guest instructors participating in the weekend Festival Concert. Saturday drop in classes are $15 and do not require registration.
