FrenetiCore Announces Call For 2015 Artist-In-Residence Program
November 17, 2014, Houston, TX – FrenetiCore has announced its annual call for both emerging and established artists to apply for its 2015 Artist-in-Residence program. Applicants of high artistic merit in a variety of disciplines are encouraged to apply, including working artists in dance, theater, music, film, visual art, and interdisciplinary work.
The Artist-in-Residence program began in 2010, and gives selected individuals the opportunity to develop and present new and original work at Frenetic Theater, FrenetiCore’s black box theater located in Houston’s historic East End. The residency includes free rehearsal and performance space, as well as technical and marketing support from the FrenetiCore staff.
Interested applicants should e-mail a one-page proposal, including artist/group biography and a performance concept description to info@freneticore.net. In addition, applicants should include links to work samples and/or previous performances or exhibitions. The selected recipient(s) will be notified no later than December 15, 2014 and will begin their residency in the spring of 2015 with the purpose of presenting their work in late spring/early summer.
Black Box Theater, 2014’s Artist-in-Residence, saw the presentation of a new play by Joseph “JoeP” Palmore, Family Thicker than Water. Previous Artists-in-Residence include Eklektix Theatre Company, Jim Mackenzie, Maggie Lasher and ChinaCat Dance, jhon r. stronks, Matt Crawford and Che Rickman, and Chris Nelson.
