Houston Ballet Kicks Off The Holiday Season With Free Wortham Theater Center Tree Lighting Ceremony
Costumed characters from Houston Ballet’s The Nutcracker Greet the Public in Event Sponsored by Houston Ballet, Houston Grand Opera and Houston First
HOUSTON — On Wednesday, November 27 from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM, the holiday season will officially begin as hundreds of Houston children celebrate at the 26th annual Wortham Theater Center Tree Lighting Ceremony – a joyous festival held in the Grand Foyer of Wortham Theater Center downtown. This event is FREE and open to the public.
The highlight of the event will take place when the Sugar Plum Fairy lights the theater’s 25-foot Christmas tree, illuminated with 8,000 sparkling lights. Other festivities include visits by characters from The Nutcracker and live holiday music by local bands and choirs, including the Salvation Army Harbor Light Choir. Children will also have the chance to have their picture taken with Santa Claus.
The 2013 Wortham Theater Center Tree Lighting Ceremony is generously sponsored by Houston First Corporation, Houston Grand Opera, and Houston Ballet.
Houston Ballet’s 26th annual Tree Lighting Ceremony celebrates the opening of The Nutcracker. Performances run November 29 – December 29, 2013 at Wortham Theater Center. Tickets start at just $32 and may be purchased at the Tree Lighting Ceremony by visiting the Wortham box office, calling (713) 227 ARTS or purchasing online at www.houstonballet.org.
