October 13, 2016 (Houston, Texas) – CORE Performance Company will perform “walk,” a dance work that celebrates the sacred space of a labyrinth, at two such spaces in inner loop Houston on November 10 at 5:00 p.m. and November 12 at 4:30 p.m. The first performance officially opens the 18th Labyrinth Society Annual Gathering in Houston at the labyrinth located at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church at 5001 Main St, 77004. The second performance on November 12 will be set in the Historic Freedman’s Town labyrinth located at 1407 Valentine St, 77019. Both performances are free and one hour in length. The public is invited to join the company at each labyrinth performance.
“The dance artists of CORE Performance Company and I were inspired to create a meditative dance work for the Freedman’s Town Labyrinth in 2015 at the invitation of labyrinth facilitators Reginald Adams and Jay Stailey,” said Sue Schroeder, CORE Performance Company Artistic Director. “With the arrival of hundreds of labyrinth enthusiasts in Houston for the conference we are delighted to revisit our work as a celebration of welcome and community.”
