UPTOWN DANCE COMPANY PRESENTS SPRING FUSION 2017
“you & me, together we …”

HOUSTON, TX – This March, Uptown Dance Company presents “Spring Fusion 2017: you & me, together we…” The evening celebrates partnerships – between two dancers, between music and choreography, and between performers and audience. Artistic Director Beth Gulledge-Brown has choreographed a present-day “Four Temperaments” for her company, showcasing Passion, Determination, Grace, and Athleticism as the four qualities she believes every dancer must possess and embody. The music choices for the pas de deux are diverse, and include Vivaldi, Sundance Head, Michael Nymann, and Andrea Boccelli. The choreography underscores the intimate connections between dance partners through thoroughly different movement vocabularies, showcasing Uptown dancers’ versatility in jazz, modern, ballet, and contemporary dance techniques.

Uptown Dance Company II will also perform a new work, Fingertips, set to music of One Republic. Here they will have the opportunity to show off their jazz and improvisational skills in a light hearted and rhythmically charged suite. A pre-show featuring the Uptown Dance Junior and Senior Companies will take place at 7:00pm.

This year also features the bi-annual Uptown Dance Company Gala and Silent Auction.Attendees of this exclusive event will be treated to champagne and hors d’oeuvres, a fully catered three-course meal with wine, and the opportunity to bid on exciting items. Auction items include: club seat tickets to the Rodeo, baseballs signed by Andy Pettitte (with a private batting cage experience), a six-day ski lodge getaway, bed and breakfast at the Houstonian, a family portrait package, jewelry, exclusive access to Shadow Hawk golf course, a hunting retreat, Bob Stover custom-made boots, and much more!! Live entertainment for the evening includes short dance selections from the Spring Fusion program, as well as string duets performed by members of Houston’s Axiom Quartet. Proceeds from the gala and silent auction benefits Uptown Dance Company and its pre-professional division, as well as provides training scholarships to dancers in need.

The Spring Fusion 2017 takes place Friday, March 3 rd, with general seating. Tickets to the performance range from $15-30, and can be purchased on TutuTix.com.

Uptown Dance Company was originally founded in 1999 by Beth Gulledge-Brown. Ms. Gulledge-Brown understood the need to supplement her students’ training with performance skills and founded the company to provide a performing outlet for her advanced students. Uptown Dance Company has since grown and now comprises of eight professional dancers from around the world. Ms. Gulledge-Brown’s students continue to perform as the pre-professional company, Uptown Dance Company II.
