Dance Month at the Kaplan Theatre 2018

HOUSTON CHOREOGRAPHERS X6 APPLICATION

The Evelyn Rubenstein Jewish Community Center created Houston Choreographers X6 for Dance Month at the Kaplan Theatre to further opportunities for Houston based choreographers and dancers. For this dance presentation program, choreographers and their work will be selected by application. Six choreographers will be selected to present their creations at a Saturday evening performance towards the end of January.

Applications are due now. Artist selection will be announced by the first of May, 2017. Those choreographers whose works are selected will receive an honorarium once the performance is completed. Those choreographers chosen will be responsible for their own expenses (i.e. props, dancers, etc.) Please take into consideration when proposing the content of your piece, that this is a family oriented presentation. Music and movement must be secular.

The following is a list of requirements:

1. The piece to be presented must be a premiere work, never seen by Houston audiences, 8-10 minutes in length, and use no less than 4 dancers and no more than 10 dancers. The piece must be secular in content and music.

2. You must submit a standard DVD with a sample of your work, burned in the highest quality possible; it must be readable by Region 0 or 1 (USA) DVD players. All DVDs must be submitted by April 30, 2017.

3. Complete and return an entry form with the DVD. Notification of acceptance will be sent by May 10, 2017.
