Announcing Emerging Artists Mentorship with Artistic Director, Ronen  (Roni) Koresh.

Houston, TX -The Evelyn Rubenstein JCC is now accepting applications for Emerging Artists Mentorship with Artistic Director of Koresh Dance Company, Roni Koresh. The Emerging Artist mentorship program dives into the history of the Koresh Style with in depth discussions regarding movement, culture, music & text influences. Artistic Director, Roni Koresh will guide dancers in creating, editing and developing their own choreographic artistic voice through movement assignments and in-person & virtual mentoring. This program is designed to challenge the next generation of choreographers’ notions around research, creation, and performance. Through choreographic investigation & guided discussions, Roni Koresh will mentor the artist to find their unique movement vocabulary for expression

“The mentorship will provide a structured curriculum of mentorship and training, for a period of six months. It will provide an opportunity for interaction between the professional staff, visiting artists and the Emerging Artists; serve as a bridge between senior academic programs and the professional world” stated Maxine Silberstein, Dance at the J artistic director.

Emerging Artists will have the opportunity to demonstrate their talent publicly in a performance.  In 2022/2023 season, Dance at the J will present the Emerging Artists’ work in concert in the Kaplan Theatre. At that time, artists will receive an honorarium for their pieces. The first three meeting times with Roni will be on a zoom call starting in November. Artists will meet in-person with Roni the week of February 14, 2022 times to be determined. Applications are now available online at https://www.erjcchouston.org/forms/457/emerging-artist-mentorship/. Deadline for the application is Wednesday, October 20, 2021. For more information contact msilberstein@erjcchouston.org or call 713-551-7217.
