Houston, TX – Dance at the J presents an exhilarating evening with Koresh Dance Company Saturday, March 9 at 8:00 PM at the Evelyn Rubenstein JCC.

Renowned for their powerful stage presence, Philadelphia’s Koresh Dance Company has been hailed as a vital force to both national and international stages. Koresh Dance Company was founded in 1991 by Israeli born choreographer and artistic director Ronen (Roni) Koresh and his brother, executive director Alon Koresh. The company presents a repertory which includes over 60 works by Roni Koresh as well as works by many guest choreographers.

“The best part of me is that I love what I do. I live it. I sleep with it. It is what I am,” said Roni Koresh. Koresh is a choreographer, teacher, and collaborator whose unique blend of ballet, modern and jazz leaves audiences dazzled by the raw passion that is infused into his movement.

Koresh Dance Company will perform Inner Sun which features the stunning choreography of Artistic Director Roni Koresh to commissioned music pairing composer John Levis and poet Karl Mullen.  John Levis’, Middle Eastern chords and compelling rhythms drive the movement while multi-disciplinary artist Karl Mullen’s poetry provides a pulse for the dancers. The result is a delicious buffet of potent rhythmic music and dance, that forces the audience to both clap along and sit captivated in turn, as the performance unfolds to this eclectic score. The dancers invite you to a space of playfulness and celebration through heartfelt vignettes and powerful group work. Inner Sun illuminates the stage with joy as the dancers move from sweeping circles to strong stage formations using body percussion, gestures and rhythms drawn from Koresh’s folk roots and the human experience.

Inspired by the parallel between the earth’s core and that of the human body, the human spirit – this work celebrates the human spirit’s ability to create the warmth and power that drives our journeys. “Koresh Dance Company astonishes again with Inner Sun,” wrote the  Philadelphia Inquirer. There will be a Q & A with Roni Koresh following the performance on stage.

Tickets for the evening concert are $20 member | $30 public | $15 students/senior adults. Visit www.erjcchouston.org/dance or call 713.551.7215 to purchase tickets.
