Learn To Swing Dance At 18th Annual Lindyfest

HOUSTON, TEXAS –   The Houston Swing Dance Society hosts one of the most popular four-day Lindy Hop events in the country called Lindyfest.  In 2014, HSDS will celebrate its 18th annual Lindyfest by bringing together dancers from around the world for a diverse set of performances and workshop activities open to the public.

Beginners get a great deal: for $69, Lindyfest offers eight hours of classes and entrance to the Saturday night dance with live music.  This bargain-priced package is open to people of all ages who are new to swing dancing.  Participants can learn basic moves during the day and practice them at the evening dance.

Lindyfest will be held March 13 – 16, 2014 at the Royal Sonesta Hotel located at 2222 West Loop South Freeway in Houston, TX 77027.  Several hundred dancers will fill over 12,000 square feet of ballroom dance flooring.  Over sixty classes will be offered in various forms of swing dances including lindy hop, jazz, tap, and Charleston.  Five class levels are offered to accommodate participants of varying abilities.

About The Houston Swing Dance Society

Founded in 1997, The Houston Swing Dance Society is a non-profit, educational organization, dedicated to the preservation of swing dancing.  Our primary focus is Lindy Hop, America’s urban folk dance, the original swing dance that originated in Harlem in the 1920s.  Houston Swing Dance Society’s goal is to educate people of all ages, cultures and backgrounds about Lindy Hop through active participation in this dance form.
