Stacey Allen Takes D is for Dance: Dancing Through the Diaspora on the Road

After a lively summer launch in Houston, award-winning author and choreographer Stacey Allen is taking her children’s book D is for Dance: Dancing Through the Diaspora on tour. The book celebrates African diasporic culture through movement, rhythm, and storytelling—inviting young readers to see the world through dance.
The tour kicked off with family storytimes at Stimley-Blue Ridge Library and Kindred Stories in Houston, followed by appearances at Dance Africa Fest in Austin (August 30) and as a special guest for Brown Girls Do Ballet’s 10-Year Celebration in Fort Worth (October 12).
Next up, Allen brings her signature storytime and dance experience to:
● Brooklyn, NY – October 18 at The Free Black Women’s Library
● Harlem, NY – October 19 at Sugar Hill Children’s Museum of Art & Storytelling
● New Orleans, LA – November 22 at Community Book Center
Each stop offers families a chance to move, listen, and connect through stories that honor the
beauty and legacy of the African Diaspora.
Allen is also the author of A Little Optimism Goes a Long Way, winner of the 2024 Children’s Publication Award from the National Association of Multicultural Education. She is the founder of Nia’s Daughters Movement Collective, a Houston-based arts organization centering Black women and girls through dance and storytelling.
