Teens Are Taking Over at METdance
Youth Training Company MET too Takes Center Stage May 19-20

HOUSTON – April 28, 2016 – METdance is preparing to showcase some of the most talented teens around with its upcoming performance “Youth Novels.”

The show features the organization’s youth training company MET too – with 15 students, ages 13-18, dancing in pieces they have been learning and rehearsing all season.

Performances are slated for 7:30 pm on Thursday, May 19 and 8 pm on Friday, May 20 at MATCH, located at 3400 Main Street. Tickets are $25.

In celebration of METdance’s 20th season, MET too will be reviving some former of its past performance, including work by choreographers Pattie Obey and Kiki Lucas.

The show will also include pieces by guest choreographers Sean Carmon, Josh Manculich, Terrill Mitchell, Ida Saki, as well as company member Kerry Jackson and Victor Lozano, a former MET too dancer and Juilliard graduate.

“This will be an unforgettable performance,” artistic director Marlana Doyle said. “When these students step on stage, the audience is sure to be blown away by their talent.”

Founded in 1995, METdance is a nonprofit organization that pursues a mission to educate and revitalize a passion for dance through world-class instruction and performance. The Houston-based company has traveled across the U.S. impressing critics and audiences alike while performing works by some of the most influential and talented choreographers in dance.

METdance also has a strong community outreach program, including its educational “Swing, Jive, Pop” performance. The company’s home base, the METdance Center, now serves as Houston’s second-largest dance training space, offering comprehensive training in multiple disciplines to students of all experience levels, ages 3 and up.
