You are cordially invited to celebrate the Grand Opening of our 8th season in Houston with our Annual Gala, Momentum; 8 years in motion. This isn’t just dinner and a show—it’s a full sensory experience with an exquisite, award-winning dinner crafted by Navy Blue. Be the first to experience a captivating, intimate performance by our company dancers and premier Houston guest artists. Cap off the night with an exclusive Meet & Greet, mingling with the visionary dancers and creators raising a glass to eight years of movement, momentum, art and community! UNITE, October 23rd, 2026, 7:30PM at the Miller Outdoor Theatre
Bringing two of Houston’s most exciting dance companies together, Houston Contemporary Dance Company and Vitacca Ballet for one evening! This program will include from HCDC OCTANE by Natasha Adorlee Emmy Award-winning choreographer from San Francisco, CA and Houston World Premiere of Sigra Sigra by acclaimed international choreographer Yue Yin, plus our second company, HC2 will perform a work by Morgan Manning. Vitacca Ballet will present beautiful contemporary dances including Ward No. 6 choreographed by Kristina Paulin, Deputy Artistic Director of the Staatsballett Karlsruhe, and presented in gracious collaboration with the Skylar Campbell Dance Collective. Plus, experience a World Premiere by Mariana Oliveira, acclaimed choreographer whose works have graced many companies and stages such as Kansas City Ballet, BalletX, Milwaukee Ballet and the Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival.
FALL COLLECTION, November 7th, 2026, 7PM at the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts. Houston Contemporary Dance Company is thrilled to present the highly anticipated Houston Premiere and stunning restaging of Yin Yue’s Sigra Sigra. HCDC is immensely proud to be the only company in the entire state of Texas to have Yin’s brilliant work in our repertoire—a choreographer so significant that she is also setting work on the legendary Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater in NYC this season. But the momentum doesn’t stop there. This breathtaking evening also features an incredible lineup of powerhouse repertoire works include, a captivating piece by NYC-based visionary choreographer Joe Celej, the
brilliant, acclaimed SLUMP by mastermind choreographer Joshua L. Peugh, and the striking, hypnotic choreography of Isabella Vik’s Heat. This is a monumental cultural event happening for ONE NIGHT ONLY.
LOCALISH, February 5th and 6th, 2027, 7:30PM at the Institute of Contemporary Dance. Founding Artistic and Executive Director, Marlana Doyle has curated 6 Houston based choreographers to present new smaller works on the company in an intimate setting with the theme and/ or idea to be based around the City of Houston and its ties to diverse communities surrounding the city. 2027 Choreographers to be Announced soon!
REJUVINATE, May 1st, 2027, 7:30PM at the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts. Houston Contemporary Dance Company is proud to present two World Premieres by powerhouse guest choreographers Keerati Jinakunwiphat (Princess Grace Award winner & Baryshnikov Arts Center Resident Artist) and Christian Denice (Joffrey Academy Winning Works winner). Both artists return to HCDC for the first time since our inaugural season to debut breathtaking new visions. The stacked program also features the choreography of Yin Yue Sigra Sigra, plus the highly mesmerizing, Begin Again by Robbie Moore. Join us for an unforgettable evening celebrating the evolution and vitality of contemporary dance.
HTX CONTEMPORARY DANCE FEST June 3rd and 4th, 2027, 7PM at the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts. HTX Contemporary Festival, in its second year, hosted by Houston Contemporary Dance Company, is a two day celebration of contemporary dance designed to bring Houston’s arts community together in a meaningful and engaging way. This festival offers community arts lovers the opportunity to experience dance from multiple perspectives by sharing space with fellow locals in thoughtfully curated master classes and community chats during the day and 2 unique contemporary concerts in the evening. The performance will feature Houston Contemporary Dance Company alongside a selection of distinguished local guest dance companies like Mezclada Dance Company, The Black Angels Collective and so many more. This festival will highlight the depth, diversity and talent within our city. Join us for two days of connection, artistry, and a shared appreciation for contemporary dance.

ABOUT MARLANA DOYLE, FOUNDING, ARTISTIC DIRECTOR:
Marlana Doyle (she/her) is originally from Massachusetts and graduated from Point Park University in 2001 with a BA in Dance. Marlana is the former Artistic Director of Met Dance, where she held various positions for seventeen years. Under her direction, Marlana’s vision and leadership catapulted the company to new levels of excellence and growth while holding tightly to the company’s long tradition of diversity and versatility in its dancers, choreographers, collaborators, and content. Marlana is the President & CEO of the
Institute of Contemporary Dance which houses Houston Contemporary professional concert dance company and HC2, a youth training company. Marlana is a member of Dance Source Houston, International Association of Blacks in Dance, Texans in the Arts and Dance USA, spending 2009-2012 as an emerging leader at Dance USA. She was awarded the Dance USA Leadership Mentee Fellowship for the institute of training in 2012 and was a mentor for the same program in 2019. She served for three years as a Dance USA Board of Trustee member and served as the Artistic Director Council Chair. Marlana has also served on the Performing Arts Houston’s Educational Committee, San Jacinto College Dance Advisory Board and the Leadership Committee for Arts Connect. As a performer, Marlana has danced and generated roles in a range of works by renowned choreographers and artists. Marlana is also a guest teacher and an award-winning choreographer for her many students in Houston and throughout the United States. She has choreographed for the City of Houston, Levi’s and Walmart, Mercury Ensemble, Apollo Chamber Players, Houston Chamber Choir, Houston Symphony, TUTS, Loop38, Kinetic Ensemble, ROCO, University of Houston, Sam Houston State University, Lamar University, RICE University and University of St. Thomas. She lives in Sugar Land, TX with her husband Ben and her two adorable daughters Olivia and Evie.
